Spring Weddings

Spring is probably the most beautiful time for a wedding. It’s the flower season and the weather is perfect, not too hot and not too cold.

Also spring is a time of rebirth and renewal – a perfect time for a new adventure that marriage brings.

Choose April or May because March is very unpredictable in terms of weather, it may be warm and beautiful today and tomorrow you can expect to snow just like in December.

The floral motifs proposed for this time of year are a real inspiration when you start to organize your wedding, and while we’re in the flower season you can place arrangements everywhere, even around the dance floor. Show romanizationOptions and combinations are generous, and just imagine tulips, freesias, lilies, daffodils, orchids and hyacinth scattered around.

Many colors are appropriate for a spring wedding theme, from pastels to neutrals to bright colors. Use colors ranging from salmon, orange, spring green, pink to beige and brown. You can easily mix brown with green, pink with white or light green, salmon with cream, and light green with orange.

Another combination that is quite popular is lavender and silver. These tones compliment each other and can bring a youthful, dreamy feel to your wedding. Invitations may be printed on lavender paper with a silver wedding cake graphic. Lavender is a color that is worn well with many skin-tones, so it is a nice choice for bridesmaid dresses. Whether you are having a casual or formal wedding, outside or indoors, this pattern always works.

Celebrate spring in your menu with fresh young vegetables such as baby carrots, baby asparagus (or regular asparagus), new potatoes, sugar snap peas, and haricots verts. Even the cake be a wonderful surprise if decorated with colorful flowers and butterflies.

Most models of spring wedding cakes can be found in glaze. However, before choosing a cake frosting you should start with the basics. The cake itself would need to have a light flavor to match the season like strawberry or lemon. You’ll find that a fresh fruit compote or a rich butter cream can be appropriate choices for an airy texture. Many of the fruit fillings are available during spring.

If you give your guests wedding favors, you can turn these small gifts into symbols of spring. They will be surprised if instead of the classic candy you will provide them seeds and bulbs of flowers, beautifully packaged in green or pink velvet bags. It would be a very nice “thank you” for having been with you. Also you can give them a small and original floral arrangements choosing decorations that contain branches of apple blossoms, hyacinth, and daffodils mounted on a small bark, lined with green moss.

And the best thing about a spring wedding is that you can get lower prices on everything needed.

Spring Wedding Dresses

Most wedding dresses seem made for a spring wedding, and finding the perfect spring wedding dress is no easy feat. It is a good idea for the spring bride to start the search long before the weather begins to warm up.

Complement a spring garden setting with a floral-embellished dress. From embroidered blossoms to 3 D buds, these nature-inspired elements can provide color to whimsy sheaths and ball gowns alike. Wear an airy A-line dress with floral add-ons on the bodice and waistline, or tone it down with a lightly floral-embellished sweep train for a subtle (yet distinct) spring style. If flowers are too feminine, look to preppy details and patterns to evoke the spirit of the season. A gingham ribbon trim or a hint of polka dots could add the perfect finishing touch to an already gorgeous gown. Consider a dress with a pleated bodice or find a patterned sash to wear around your waist.

For a wedding dress that reflects the spring season, light and airy fabrics are ideal. Think chiffon, charmeuse, and organza. Let a spring breeze wisp your chiffon train as you walk down the aisle, or go for a spaghetti-strap, organic Swiss Dot silk cotton number for an outdoor spring wedding under the trees.

Ruffles are a big trend this year, and their feminine appeal makes them perfect to wear to a wedding. Look for a pretty sleeveless dress with a ruffled neckline. If sleeveless seems a bit chilly, layer in a coordinating dressy cardigan (for daytime) or a silk wrap (for evening). The sleeveless style will make the dress versatile, as you can also wear it for summer weddings. With a busy neckline, you will find that the best type of wedding jewelry to wear is a simple necklace with bolder earrings. A swingy cluster drop pearl or crystal earring design would be a lovely complement to the feminine style of the ruffles.

Many more brides these days are opting for a hint of color in their wedding dresses – be it a baby blue sash, an allover hint of pink, or light colorful embroidery. These touches will look perfect at a spring wedding.

For some brides the perfect dress may mean a traditional spring wedding dress, complete with flowing train and beautifully accented headpiece. For others the dress will be quite a bit more casual, with a short, sexy and sporty style, and with short gowns becoming ever more popular on the bridal runways, we can’t think of a better way to show off toned and tanned gams. Find a mini dress that will really show off your figure, or go for a tea-length dress paired with peep-toed heels for a fun and flirty look.

No matter which style is right for you, it is a good idea to shop around widely in order to find the perfect dress.

Spring Wedding Flowers

Tulips are the obvious favorite for spring! They come in a myriad of colors: near black purple, blues, reds, pinks, yellows, orange and even white. They do start to droop slightly in an arrangement but they can be straightened out by wrapping them in newspaper and then set the stems in water overnight.

For arrangements plan on purchasing and arranging the tulips the day before–no more than two days prior to the reception for best looking blooms.Tulips are an ideal choice for simple wedding bouquet styles, particularly as tulips are said to mean perfect love; red tulips mean true love, purple tulips mean royalty and yellow tulips mean cheerful thoughts.

Orchids are ideal cut flowers as they last for up to a week and hold their shape. Available naturally in whites, greens and purples you can also find white ones dyed in all colors such as vibrant blue. Keep in mind the dyed ones tend to seep dye into the water in your vases, so be sure to change the water if you don’t like this look. A great choice since orchid arrangements can be made several days in advance and still look fresh.

The Gerber Daisy, or Gerbera, is available in a wide variety of colours so they are useful to create a colour harmony in combination with other flowers, especially tulips. The Gerber Daisy is a perennial or annual plant, depending on the species and cultivar. The Gerber Daisy has large, dramatic flowers in colors of red, yellow, orange and pink; it has a long stalk, so can be used for wedding floral arrangements as well as in bridal bouquets.

The Gerber Daisy is an excellent flower choice for brides who wish to make a statement as it adds dramatic color to any wedding bouquet; daisy themed weddings are now becoming a popular choice for Spring brides.

Lily of the Valley has a short season around April and May. The beautiful small white flowers have a distinctive fragrance that many people love. It works well for gentlemen’s buttonholes (boutonnieres) as well as for bridal bouquets. It is one of the more expensive flowers considering its size. And if you want to get it out of season you will need very deep pockets indeed.

Hyacinths have their main season in spring. I like using them as much for their lovely fragrance as their delicate shape and colour. Some people think of hyacinths as being a bit stuffy and old-fashioned but in the hands of a good florist they can match many more ‘modern’ flowers for beauty. They can work particularly well as a secondary flower in an arrangement, for example with roses.

And speaking of Roses, most bridal bouquets and arrangements include roses. Roses are ancient symbols of love and beauty. ‘Rose’ means pink or red in a variety of languages (such as Romance languages, Greek, and Polish). The ancient Greeks and Romans identified the rose with their goddesses of love referred to as Aphrodite and Venus. If you’re thinking of roses for your wedding, consider planning your bridal flowers and wedding bouquets around one of the symbolic themes attached to the color of roses. It doesn’t matter if you’re the only person who understands the significance of the color scheme. It’s your day, it’s your wedding, and it’s your choice
